About
Chiropractic

The term chiropractic comes from the Greek derivative of chiro-praktikos meaning "done by use of the hands". Chiropractic has a rich history in healthcare. The art, science and philosophy of chiropractic was discovered by Daniel David Palmer (D.D. Palmer) in the late 1800’s.  D.D. Palmer studied anatomy for many years and had earned the respect of many anatomists of his time.  Upon turning his focus to the spine he noticed through several examinations that the spinal nerve roots are likely to be impinged when the vertebrae are out of alignment.

He knew from his studies these nerve roots supply all of the organs, tissues and cells of the body with vital energy and that any interruption of their flow would effect the tissue they were supplying. He then developed specific contacts on the spine through leverage and the rest is history. Harvey Lillard, in 1895, became the first chiropractic patient when his hearing was restored after receiving a specific adjustment of the spine.

Later, his son Bartlett Joshua (B.J.) Palmer became the "master of marketing" for chiropractic. He was the grand developer of the practice of chiropractic. He was an extreme personality. A  hardcore, very inspired man of philosophy. He wrote the all-famous "Green Books" in which, among his personal travels and random thoughts of existence, he detailed the overall significance of the presence of the art of chiropractic and its availability and enormous impact on our life. He powerfully stated, "The Power That Made The Body -- Heals The Body." If nothing else, the passion of B.J. Palmer was unstoppable and arguably, the single most convincing facilitator of human consciousness since Aristotle.
